·
Cut the
aluminum on both sides of CTI with a utility knife, then tear the fiber
layer by pulling it apart. CTI
may also be cut with a fabric scissors.
·
Attach CTI
to rafters with a standard staple gun, using 10 – 12 mm staples.
·
Seal the
overlaps, if desired, using YSM-brand tape. Taping is recommended when two
unsupported CTI layers meet.
Since CTI’s proprietary DustBlock™
technology eliminates dust build-up, it is recommended to ventilate the
roof space. Ventilating under the space contributes significant
temperature reduction under the roof.
Installing of CTI
under the rafters in an existing roof
Alternative A
This is the fastest installation method.
- Spread
the CTI insulation perpendicular to the rafters. Attach to the underside of the rafters using a staple
gun.
|
 |
- It is recommended
to have a 5 cm overlap between the two CTI sheets.
If using CTI without an added aluminum edge on one side, place
the lower CTI sheet under the upper CTI sheet.
If using CTI with an added aluminum edge on one side, place the
edges of the upper CTI sheet over the lower CTI to create an
overlap.
Alternative B
This is the best method when installing CTI in a roof to be
finished with drywall or wood paneling.
Install CTI parallel to the rafters and affix it to the inner sides
of the rafters.
|
- Make
certain that the insulation is 10 cm wider than the distance between
the rafters.
- Measure
the required length, starting from the peak of the roof to the bottom.
Cut the desired length of CTI.
- Affix
the edges of CTI to the inside of the rafters using a staple gun,
making sure to leave the maximum air space between the roof and the
CTI. Staples should be
inserted every 30 – 40 cm. An
optional fold can be made along the edge of the insulation under the
staple.
|
 |
Installation of CTI
in a new roof, before placing roofing tiles or shingles
- Spread
CTI on top of and perpendicular to the rafters, before laying
the roof. Attach
with a staple gun, starting from the low end of the roof.
- Overlap
the CTI sections, starting by placing the lower layers under the
higher layers. If
using CTI with aluminum edges, lay the higher layer over
the lower layer.

Recommendation: CTI
can be stretched taut, however installing it loosely creates a 4 –
8 cm “valley” between the rafters to increase the ventilation
under the roof. This
“valley” should be of a uniform depth.
Installing CTI on a
plaster or wood ceiling
Place CTI perpendicular to the wood beams that support the
ceiling, so that every two insulation sheets are adjacent to each other.
Attach CTI to the wood beams with a staple gun.
Recommendation: Use
CTI with an aluminum edge so there is an overlap between the layers.
If using regular CTI, apply YSM-brand tape on the joints between
the insulation strips.
Installing CTI on a cement ceiling
Place the CTI insulation directly on the ceiling.
Affix the CTI sheets using YSM-brand tape.
